It is also time to start scheduling and planning our season. At this point we only have one team at the 7-8 level and 1 team at the 5-6. Normally we have 3 at the 7-8 and two 5-6. I think our numbers should be fine, but please actually register so I know what I am scheduling for.
I spoke with Veronica Grubbin (the high school coach) and she is willing to coach the Newington team! No she needs players. I will open the registration program later today, but please spread the word so you can build your team. Practices will be in Newington and might even include a little bit weekly turf time :)
You also have a coach that will lead your girls through the program. If you bring enough girls you have the option to play exclusivly with other Glastonbury girls as well. Please help to market the program so we can get additional girls to sign up. This could be the year that Glastonbury (7-8) practices on home fields as well...spread the word...
Im very excited to report a solid number of young new players. It looks like this clinic/team will take off. I have had a few mom's reach out to help coach. This warms my heart as our 8th grade coaches will likely be moving on once their daughters exit the program. Currently Paul and I are networking and trying to get a sliver of the turf for our regular practice time (ideally Saturday mornings) I feel very strongly that this is a must for the girls at this level. (grass will be too frustrating and we risk loosing younger players if they don't love the sport) If you know of anyone that could help solidify this I would welcome the support/connection. We really only need the small softball field, or even an end zone...lol.
It is an exciting time for Field Hockey. With the addition of "official" Newington and Glastonbury teams it might be time to transition into a League. More information on that as it develops.
See you Thursday! Look for cancelation by 4:00 for weather.
As alway's call or text with questions, Im working now, but will always take the time for your questions...
Hi all, Hope you had a great 4th of July. We are back at it this week with our Free clinic series. Please spread the word and invite friends to join us. Also- If you are an incoming freshman or a high school player I believe there is a captains practice on the turf so come on down!

The clinic for tomorrow has been moved to our turf at Wethersfield HIghschool. 5:30-6:30. It looks like the weather is going to cooperate. See you there!
Morning-I don't really love how the website is displaying our news, so I'm going to try this...A continual feed with our most current news right on top. You can scan below for old news if you missed something.
So weather didn't cooperate last week, fingers crossed it will this week. Click hereto register for out next FREE FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC on 6/27 from 5:30-6:30. The location will likely change from the Cove to the turf, so our retired players are welcome to come an get some pre season turf time. Enjoy the day! (from what I understand the weather hasn't been so great for you guys...)
August 1 same time with uniform try ons- (hopefully)
*CLINIC TODAY 6/20 CANCELED DUE TO LIKELY INCLEMENT WEATHER*
Good Morning Field Hockey Families-
I just wanted to update you on a few things.
I am away, but from what I understand it has been pretty wet at home. Since it seems like it is going to stay wet please check our website Thursday after noon for cancelations. The field at the cove drains fairly well, however there is no need to have the clinic in the rain.
I used a form to collect registration data for the clinic. This is super easy for everyone registering, but its a new function for me. I made a slight error and didn't collect an email address from anyone joining out clinic. This means I have your name only, but no way of getting in touch with field changes or weather cancelations. Given my error, (this week only), please use the website to check for updates. Also, if you get any information in your email, please share it with others you know registered for the clinic. For example...share my mistake and tell friends to check the website for updates.
I will not be around to meet any our new players or volunteers this week, however you will be in great hands.
Feel free to reach out with questions-
I tried to collect as much data as possible during the registration process. This will include uniform sizing, your child's number, banquet count, and also an opportunity to order last years color block pull over that was such a hit. Don't get sticker shock when you see the bottom line, I enabled payment options so you can pay through out the summer if that helps you to spread it out.
REGISTER HERE...Now for the best pricing of the season. Do it now, before you forget :)
Registration Early bird = 130
After May 31 it goes up to 155
Late fees will go into effect after out last clinic August 1...
Please share this with anyone who will listen. We have grown a pretty amazing, empowering program, for our girls. Everyone should know how great it is and is invited to play with us. (including those from out of town)
Below is the email that was sent regarding out clinics. Feel free to invite friends, and share that as well.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, we are all so busy this time of year.
Happy Spring! I'm writing to announce the dates of our 4th annual series of FREE summer clinics. Thursday nights at the cove from 5:30-7:00. I'm very excited about this since the farmers market is also on Thursdays. I can picture a relaxing evening with dinner from the the market while the girls play some field hockey.
This is meant to be an introduction to our sport with the hopes of building the interest of those who are not yet playing. I also think this will be a good opportunity for players to just get out and pass with each other so they are a little less rusty in September.
This is NOT mandatory...and is open from 3rd grade up. I will send out a reminder as we get closer. This is more of a Save the Date.
Please Fill out this form ( It will take 2 minutes) if you think you can join us on our first Thursday. Talk it up, and share with anyone who will listen. If your name is given as a referal we will have something fun for you!
Thanks so much...
August 1 same time with uniform tryons- (hopefully)

Hi all, Hope you had a great 4th of July. We are back at it this week with our Free clinic series. Please spread the word and invite friends to join us. Also- If you are an incoming freshman or a highschool player I believe there is a captins practice on the turf so come on down!
For some reason the last link didnt send... If this link is broken you can register on our website.
Welcome to the 2018 season for Wethersfield Youth Field Hockey. We are so excited for our 3rd season. The coaches and board members have been working hard all summer to make this season even better than last. With that in mind we ask that you put the following dates/reminders into your calendar.
* Thursday August 2nd – Final Free Clinic also meet your coach! We will also use this time to do uniform fitting and or swapping. Bring your uniforms!
To keep your costs down we thought that everyone could bring any uniforms/apparel/cleats/sticks, etc that can be swapped and or bought by someone else. Our uniforms will be the same as last year so if yours fits you will not need to buy a new one. Also pick up your ticket books.
*August 24 and August 28- Ref training for Highschool girls who have played field hockey for at least one year. Do you know of any girls that would want to ref? They get paid around 30 per game. Registration will be open on our website.
* Week of August 28th – Official start of our season with practices beginning at the coaches discretion.
* Saturday September 8th – Wethersfield Sticks kick off day.
While the details are being worked out plan on doing inter-league shortened games, potential field hockey apparel sales, signing of parent code of conduct, potential field hockey picture day
* Saturday September 15th – First official games
* Saturday October 13th – Ethel Walker tournament. Details to be forthcoming. Probably only 7-8 teams this year.
* All registered players need to have their USA Field Hockey membership current before they can play. Please remember to renew or register for your players. Click here to do that...note do not creat a new account if you played last year.
* The season is expected to be over by Halloween with our end of year pasta dinner November 1st.
